Secrets Of A Successful Blog

By digitalart,

Do you know the characteristics of successful blogs? Successful blogs that make a lot of money have a lot of readers so if you want to have success with your blog, focus on getting lots of readers. There are many ways to go about getting readers, but you should know that only about a handful of them work to get you the readers that you desire.

If you didn't already know, you need a blog so that you can propel your business to the next level. I think it's plain to see that having a blog can do a lot for your business growth. In the internet marketing world, there's an old saying that says "the money is in the list", so if you want to earn money with your blog, focus on building a list.

Popular blogs have a readership level in the thousands. It could take some time to build this up from scratch or you can pay for advertising and set up a capture page to get users to subscribe to your blog. I personally feel that the first option of building a list from scratch is better. With this you are using free advertising. For one these people know you and like you and have grown to listen to your advice. If you think that you can't build a successful blog from scratch, then think again.

Internet marketing in general is hard, and building a successful blog is even harder. Popular blogs get a lot of traffic on a daily basis but you shouldn't let this discourage you if you're not getting a lot of traffic yet. You want to build successful blogs so that you can be perceived as an obvious expert in your niche. With credibility behind you, it will be easier for you to sell your products and services.

It doesn't matter what you use to monetize your blog - you need a lot of subscribers to make it successful. If you have Google AdSense on your blog, you should know that you will get a lot of clicks, but to repeatedly see the numbers rise in your favor, you need a following of people who will visit your blog on a daily basis. This is something that successful blogs have.

I mentioned above that successful blogs have a lot of traffic to their blog. This is important because without a lot of traffic you're dead in the water. You need a lot of traffic if you want to survive in the internet marketing world - that's just marketing 101. There are a ton of ways to get traffic, but only a few of them are worth your time. If you're a beginner, you should stick with the free ways to get traffic since you probably won't have a lot of money for advertising.

One of the best kinds of free advertising is video marketing. All you do is create 3-5 minute long videos and submit them to the top video sites. Sites such as YouTube, Metacafe, and Google Video are all popular sites and get a lot of traffic to them on a daily basis. You can stand to benefit from the traffic that these sites can deliver to you.

Another way to get traffic is with article marketing. Simply write up 300-500 word articles and submit them to the top article directories. Here are a few of my favorites below:

- - - - -

All of these sites can deliver a ton of hits to your blog. You will want to write on topics that are related to your blog so that you can get targeted visitors. You get search engine traffic when you write for the article directories, and you also get traffic when website owners publish your article on their website.

Another great way to get free traffic is with forum marketing. Sign up to a forum and post helpful messages on the forums. Reserve your advertising message until your signature line as this is the proper place to put your message - so keep this in mind.

Successful blogs have all of these things in common. If you want a blog that is successful, simply follow the tips in this article.

10 Creative Traffic Building Ideas

Everyone wants traffic to their website. It is not always easy to get more people to visit your site. There are ways to generate the desired traffic. It takes being creative and innovative sometimes; yet here are several ideas that will help.

1. Use Flickr. Social photo sharing drives people to your website. Add good tags to the photos so they attract the members on the site. Write a post in your blog and add the link to the Flickr site. The two sites will work in unison to draw traffic to your site.

2. Join a social bookmarking site. Share your favorite sites with other people sharing the same interests. Include your website. The social sites are like a specific search engine for many people. Add the bookmarks to your blog site to increase your internet traffic. Add interesting links to relevant products that the users are searching for. The more interesting links you have bookmarked the larger your following will become.

3. Start blogging. Join several sites where you comment on the blog posts. Add your URL with posting. Keep in mind you are commenting on your posts so remain focused on the topic since you do not want your posting to be deleted or considered as spam. You want to appear knowledgeable and someone others can trust.

4. Use forum signatures for promotion of your site with a live link. Use topics with great information and link them back to your sties. The more information you provide the readers the more they will rely on you for your new information. They will return repeatedly to read what you are posting.

5. Add widgets, themes, and extension to your site. There are many free additions that will enhance your site. Make your site interesting rather than the typical boring website. Make your site user friendly and exciting. Users want to see and experience new things, give it to them with your site.

6. Use your friends to know your business and have them help spread the word about your website. They can use their personal blogs, websites, and contacts to increase your website traffic.

7. Use industry specific sites to add links and networks with by contacting the websites. Many are willing to join the cause to help your build your website traffic.

8. Expand your exposure by adding podcasts to your site. Include audio and video that is interesting and intriguing
9. Submit your feed to blog site directories. The feed will drive traffic from another site to your site.
Last but not least:

10. Submit articles to article directories, using the resource box to drive traffic to your site and establish strong backlinks to your site; for the Search Engines.

When you do your traffic building, it is not really about the traffic but offering what the readers want. When you reach out to them with information and products you service a valuable purpose.

5 Huge copywriting Errors You Are STILL Making! And It's Costing You BIG!

By Dr. Jeffrey Lant

You've told me over and over again that you want to succeed at marketing, because you know that folks who do reap the greatest rewards in business. You also know that one key area of marketing -- copywriting -- must be mastered, and as soon as possible.

Copywriting, after all, is the ability to select and present the words that get people to stop, pay attention to what you're saying and then buy. Master this, and you get the big bucks; fail to do so and you don't.
This article reviews the 5 top copywriting errors. Stop making these today; start doing things the right way, the customer-centered way,and I guarantee you you're going to be richer, faster. I know that's what you want... so let's get started turning you into the well-heeled marketer you want.

#1 Copywriting is about moving mammals.
Let's be clear with each other. Copywriting is always about getting the people you are contacting to TAKE ACTION. Either you want these mammals to tell you they are interested in your proposition (providing you with the complete follow up details you require)... OR you want them to buy what you're selling on the spot.
Often inexperienced copywriters add a third category: telling people what you've got, expecting that when the reader knows enough she'll buy.

The objective is NEVER, EVER merely to tell your customer good stuff about your product. That's a waste of time and money. As stated, and herewith emphasized, copywriting means selecting and presenting the right words that turn folks either into prospects... or buyers... It's about selling, never just telling.

#2 Mastering just 4 words delivers copy that sells.

Top copywriters are well paid because they know the secret of getting people to stop what they're doing... and focus on what you want . Just 4 words can deliver this absolutely crucial result: YOU GET BENEFIT NOW. Let's look at each crucial word, the better to understand their importance.

YOU -- There's only 1 person who matters when you're writing copy; that is the person you're writing to motivate to act. You must ALWAYS know who that person is. There must be an exact fit between the copy you are writing and the person you are writing for. Yes, the fit must be snug as a glove.

GET -- People respond and people buy to improve their circumstances. Thus all of marketing is predicated on motivating people to respond to be better off, in other words to "get" the desired benefit.

BENEFIT -- To succeed in marketing and in writing copy that sells you MUST understand (and write down) every single benefit your product delivers. AND you must be specific about these benefits. The harder, sharper, clearer your benefits, the faster your customers will respond and in the greater numbers you desire.

NOW -- There's only one time period in marketing and copywriting... and that time frame is -- NOW! Yesterday is history; tomorrow doesn't exist. All there is, then, is NOW...the present, truly a gift to you!

#3 Make an offer... then make a better one.

As I write, the world is in the grip of economic doldrums which frighten customers and make them pause before taking action. Thus, uncertainties create caution; caution creates more caution... and more caution produces more uncertainties. What's a good marketer to do in such a climate? Sit down and cry?
Certainly not. Make an offer... then improve the offer as often as it takes until you've got the offer that will put money in your pocket at once... and carry your business on until better times come.

The offer, the improved offer, the enhanced offer, does this IF you do it right. Here's what you need to do...
* Keep thorough records of all your offers that worked. Update and use them again.
* Look for good offers constantly, including what your competitors are doing.
* When you find offers (and copy) that look good to you, clip and save them.

Finally, test offers, keep good records on how they worked... then improve the offer to get even better results.

ALL copywriters, all marketers, are in the testing business. That's how we learn what works (and so use again) and what doesn't (and so trash).

#4 Before you write a word, breathe deep and stretch.

You are about to start writing the best copy of your life, copy that will ring up response after response and sale after sale... because your skills, thanks to this article, have dramatically improved since the last time you were at this point.

Now, prepare yourself further for what you must do. Get up from your computer. Breathe deep.... stretch... put oxygen in your lungs and thereby assist your brain to prepare for the important work at hand.

Copywriting is an action game. It is all about energy! Motivating! Uplifting! Inspiring! And above all else helping people and improving their lives. This is a great responsibility, and you owe it to your customers to do it right. After all, you are improving their lives... as well as enhancing your own.
Makes sure your energy level is high. Remember, you are all about energy and energizing folks to MOOOOOOOVE and take action. This necessitates fuel. You cannot write high energy copy if your body and mind are hungry, unsatisfied and under fueled.

#5. Now start writing... always remembering that the most important part of writing is re-writing!

Open with your best offer. Make it clean, crisp, motivating, incredible!
Then follow with the benefits, in priority order (leading with the best one). Each benefit should be short, punchy, powerful, persuasive.

Then restate the offer... so you're sure the prospect gets it. Remember, offers get people to respond who had no intention of doing so.

Follow with product features, always stressing what it can do and how easy it is.
Reprise your offer in two more places... as a post script and also on the envelope if you're mailing.
Last point: evaluate what happened and why.

Copywriting, like life itself, is an ongoing business needing constant review, analysis, rethinking, improving. Thus, no copywriting you do is actually finished until you scrutinize what happened and why. You may not like doing this, but it is essential and no project is over until this is done. But when it is, it's time to congratulate yourself. You now know more... and, if you've followed these directions, have done better. Keep up the good work... and congratulation: you're a real copywriter, on the road to being an expert copywriter, with all the rewards. You deserve them!

How do I keep track of the social popularity of my website?

When social signals started being used by search engines such as Google and Bing for ranking popularity of websites, one common question was heard throughout the blogosphere, "How do I keep track of the online popularity of my website?" Now, a concrete answer has arrived to that question, in the form of the product known as Social Metrics Pro.

The best part of using Social Metrics Pro is its simplicity. This is what makes it possible for even the most amateur online marketer to use this tool and harness its potential to gauge the online popularity of their website.

Social Metrics Pro is driven by a dashboard that keeps track of the social status of the content on the website. The dashboard is simplified with a system of color coding. Different colors indicate the relative popularity of the posts. Reds indicate posts that are performing poorly on the social networks, while greens indicate posts that are performing well on the social networks. As the poor performing posts are worked upon, the reds turn into greens, which is a direct measure of the improvement of the social signals of the website.
Social Metrics Pro also allows the optimizer to directly transfer the output into a Microsoft Excel file. This can be used to further analyze the performance of the website. These files are viewable on all spreadsheet processors.

The best part of Social Metrics Pro is that it is available as a plugin. Once installed, it sits pretty on the taskbar of the browser, until it is called upon to perform its analysis. The plugin works for any blog that has been created on WordPress, upwards of Wordpress 3.2 version. Its access is also available through the admin dashboard of Wordpress as well.

There are small features that help the newbie optimizer immensely. For instance, the webmaster can choose to refresh their data. The frequency can be preset, which helps to give an updated version of the social networking status of the blog at any required time. The plugin begins performing as soon as it has been downloaded and installed. Once installed, the plugin keeps on updating itself. There are free lifetime updates provided with the plugin, and a dedicated technical support team helps people with any issues that they might have.

Our final verdict is that Social Metrics Pro is a great tool for people who want to tap into the potential of social signals to bring their website on the top of the search engines. If you have any apprehensions about its functionality, you might put them to rest as this is one of the easiest optimizing tools that we have come across.

Advice That Every Home Business Owner Should Know

You need to have some knowledge of what to do and expect from a home business. You need to know what resources are available to you and who can provide you answers as to what you need for the future of your business. The tips below can help you start.
Do not get caught up in multi-level marketing and get-rich-quick schemes. Your home business should be a legitimate idea, that sells a product or service. If you start gearing yourself towards what seems too good to be true, then you are spinning your wheels. Devise a solid business plan of your own and attain the resources to make it come to life.

You should never try to work for a company that has ethics and values that do not mirror your own. It is hard to convince someone to invest in a business idea or product that you are selling if they can tell that you are not a fan of it yourself.

If you are just getting started it is a good idea to offer something free to your customers. Many people do not want to invest their money into something they are not sure of, so offering them free products/services will give them an idea of what you are selling and let them know the quality of it.

Obtain all necessary permits and licenses. If you sell a product, you may need a state sales-tax certificate, and if customers visit your home, you may need an occupancy permit. License and zoning laws can be complicated but can usually be found online. If you're unsure, it's best to hire a lawyer. Obeying the laws will help you avoid being fined or even losing your business.

If it is possible, attempt to start your home business before leaving your current job. This will allow you to have a steady salary while you begin building the new company. This will also give you a cushion in the unfortunate, but realistic possibility of failure or even complete bankruptcy.

Take the time to showcase your knowledge of your product to others. Write online articles and put your contact information in them. Search for seminars that you can participate in and think of other opportunities to become involved. The reputation of your home business will increase the more you put yourself out there.

Use an attention-grabbing name for your website domain. There are many different websites and you want to make sure that yours stands out from the rest. A catchy name can be the perfect thing to get traffic to your site, it will be easy for a potential customer to remember and easy for them to access.

Find a home business venture that you are actually interested in! This will benefit you in the long run! Otherwise, working from home will be much less enjoyable and a more difficult task. To make a success determine your interests, goals and capabilities - before you become involved in any business!

Your home business website will benefit from things such as search engine optimization. Make friends with people in the same industry, so you can swap banner links with each other. This boosts your page rankings on major search engines, making your website a higher priority among search results. This is an excellent way to boost traffic.

As you have seen in the above tips, there is a lot of knowledge, you can acquire before starting and maintaining a home business, and it is this knowledge that can help you with your future. Do everything you must to ensure the success of your home business for the future.
